Intersectional Identities / Hunaniaethau Croestoriadol

Welsh Below

Thanks to the Arts Council Wales, Welsh Government, and the National Dance Foundation of Bermuda for funding Intersectional Identities/Hunaniaethau Croestoriadol; an 18-month project exploring the intersections of D/deaf, Black, and Welsh speaking identities in audiences, creatives, and cultural organisations.

Throughout the next 18-months, project partners, Deaf Hub Wales, Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru, Krystal S. Lowe, National Dance Company Wales, Taking Flight Theatre Company, and The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds Cymru: Giving Nature a Home in Cardiff will seek to develop artists, new audiences, and participants with specific focus on the intersections of D/deaf, Black, and Welsh speaking people.

Our aims are to

·       create intersectional approaches to sharing, producing, and discussing ‘arts & culture’

·       explore how outdoor spaces can be used to enhance wellbeing, promote environmental sustainability, and cultural inclusion.

·       build new, long lasting relationships between organisations/freelancers from different context

·       promote dance as an inclusive, accessible artform.

We will share our research and development process, and learnings throughout, with partner organisations and across multiple sectors as well as offering job opportunities for over 50 Welsh and Wales-based arts and culture freelancers.

We are looking forward to learning, developing, and sharing this project widely.
